Chinese Hospital Collaboration

UCSF Health and Chinese Hospital have signed an agreement to make our health care services more accessible to San Francisco residents and meet patients in their own communities with culturally and linguistically appropriate care.

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that UCSF Health and Chinese Hospital have signed an agreement to make our health care services more accessible to San Francisco residents and meet patients in their own communities with culturally and linguistically appropriate care.

We announced our expanded collaboration at a news conference yesterday. You can see some of the coverage on social media, in this KCBS radio interview, and in Chinese-languagemedia Sing Tao and World Journal.

While health systems such as UCSF Health are broad in reach, it's important to remember that health care delivery is local. Safe, high-quality care is built on trust; patients need to feel comfortable sharing information with their providers so that care recommendations are based on a complete picture of their lives.

UCSF Health has been collaborating with Chinese Hospital for three year, including through the development of a primary stroke center at the Hospital

Expanding UCSF Health's footprint into local communities enables us to serve more patients across a broader specturm of care.

As UCSF Health continues to address its financial challenges, relationships with other health care oganizations such as Chinese Hospital also will help increas the bolume of patients we see by providing much-needed additional capacity for those who nees access to our specialty services.

Moving forward, we will work together on more programs and services for the broader San Francisco community, including skilled nursing/subacute care. Additionally, we will work with Chinese Hospital to address areas of specialty care where significant disparities remain, including cancer, cardiology, and stroke. We plan to jointly develop new programs that increase the availability of physician and administrative services to achieve measurable improvements in patient, family, and community health.

Health equity is an integral theme across our strategic plan, Vision 2025. Chinese Hospital is a community-owned, not for profit organization based in San Francisco's Chinatown that includes multiple promary care clinics and outpatient centers. Bringing together their unique strengths with ours has tremendous potential to improve the health of the community, while enabling new best practices in care.

We want to thank our colleagues who have been supporting our collaboration with Chinese Hospital and who will enable implementation of these new programs. We are excited about this partnership and look forward to what we can achieve together for San Francisco residents. Thank you for all that you do for our patients and one another.
